Hello Blair,

Thank you for your email.

Yes, based on our records, you currently have a Lifetime Plan with 10,000 tasks per month.

Regarding the banner and the Upgrade button, these are standard elements displayed across the platform for all users. They are shown in case a user wishes to purchase additional tasks or upgrade their plan in the future.

At the moment, these promotional banners and the Upgrade button are default parts of the interface and cannot be removed or disabled on an individual account basis.

Please rest assured that seeing these offers does not affect your current Lifetime Plan or require any additional purchase from your side.

it is a big turn off..  you might want to reconsider it...   imagine if you came to my car dealership and you bought the very best car I offer, and then everyday, all day, I blast you with ads, with no way to stop them, saying,..  hey you should look at this..  its a better deal....    very poor customer service decision to not have an opt out

Thanks,

Hello Blair,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback.

We completely understand your concern. Since you already have a Lifetime Plan with 10,000 tasks per month and your current usage is well within that limit, we can appreciate how repeatedly seeing upgrade promotions may feel unnecessary.

We have shared your feedback with our team for review, particularly regarding the visibility of promotional banners and the possibility of providing users with more control over such notifications in the future.

At present, these banners are displayed by default across the platform and cannot be individually disabled, but we genuinely appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback.

Thank you for your response.   Yes, you would be wise to reconsider how that works. Every time I log in to use it, it just leaves me with a negative opinion of your company.  It would make much more sense and be appreciated if you had a promotion that was triggered when my usage was getting close to my limits; otherwise, there is no reason I would change.  The way you have it now, I would not refer anyone to you, even though you have a good product, simply because of this.
image.png

That screenshot says it all. I have 9,990 tasks remaining out of 10,000—I've barely touched 0.1% of your allocation—and right at the top of your active workspace is a bright gradient banner shouting about a "LIMITED TIME DEAL" to buy more.

Here is my honest breakdown of why this practice hurts companies, the Ferrari analogy, and how smart software companies handle this much better.

Feedback on the Company's Strategy

It is lazy user-experience design driven by short-term revenue goals at the expense of customer trust.

  1. It Erodes Brand Loyalty: When a customer buys a lifetime deal (LTD), they expect a premium, hassle-free experience. Constantly showing them bright "BUY NOW" banners makes the platform feel like cheap adware rather than a professional SaaS product.

  2. "False Urgency" Fatigue: Calling something a "Limited Time Deal" when it sits on the dashboard day in and day out destroys credibility. When everything is an emergency offer, nothing is.

  3. Zero Context-Awareness: The platform knows you have 9,990 tasks remaining. Serving an upgrade banner for "Unlimited Tasks" to someone sitting on a massive, unused quota shows a complete disconnect between product telemetry and marketing messaging.

The Analogy: The Nagging Ferrari Dashboard

Imagine buying a brand-new Ferrari.

You opted for the top-tier package that gives you 10,000 miles of free white-glove maintenance and a engine tuned to hit 200 mph. You’re currently cruising down a quiet residential street at 25 mph, enjoying the smooth ride. You look down at your odometer, and you’ve only driven 10 miles.

But right in the middle of your windshield, a neon-pink digital billboard flashes every single second:

🚨"LIMITED TIME OFFER! UPGRADE TO THE TRACK-READY V12 SUPER-ENGINE TODAY AND SAVE 25%!" 🚨

There is no dismiss button. You can’t turn it off. Even though you’re only going 25 mph, haven’t even scratched the surface of the engine you already paid for, and will never step foot on a race track, the car manufacturer is screaming at you to buy a faster engine while you're just trying to drive home.

What a Better Strategy Looks Like

Smart companies use data-driven, behavioral nudges instead of blanket promotional banners. Here is how they should handle it:

1. Conditional & Trigger-Based Messaging

  • Hide the Banner by Default: If a user has used less than 75% or 80% of their allotted tasks, do not show them an upgrade banner.

  • Show It When Relevant: Only trigger the banner when the user actually nears their limit (e.g., "You've used 8,500 of your 10,000 tasks this month. Upgrade to Unlimited so your workflows never stop!"). That makes the prompt feel like a helpful warning rather than a cash grab.

2. A Simple Dismiss Button (or "Don't Show Again")

  • If a company must announce a sale or promo, let the user click an "X" to hide it for good. Forcing paid users to look at static ad banners every day treats customers like free-tier accounts.

3. Upsell Value, Not Just Volume

  • If someone already has plenty of tasks, offering "more tasks" is completely useless.

  • Instead, offer feature-based upgrades that actually matter to power users (e.g., faster execution times, premium app integrations, dedicated support, or team collaboration features).

Thanks,
